Brit Insurance launches Global Claims Hubs

New worldwide strategy in partnership with Crawford & Company and Cunningham Lindsey
September 4, 2008

Brit Insurance Holdings PLC ("Brit Insurance" or "The Group"), today announces the launch of its Global Claims Hubs initiative. The first two hubs are in the UK and the USA and are operated in partnership with leading claims experts Cunningham Lindsey and Crawford & Company respectively. Further hubs are to be established in Europe and South East Asia within the next 18 months.

The new hubs, located in Cardiff and Atlanta, provide a comprehensive suite of local claims services to brokers, coverholders and customers. Services, which can be tailored to different accounts, include claims notification, desktop handling and loss adjusting services.

The initiative will also aid the collection and collation of local claims data, providing ready access to consistent management information for brokers, coverholders and underwriters, as well as enabling and enhancing control of service provider performance.

Brit Insurance employees in each hub will ensure that key decisions can be made quickly and effectively, and that customers are treated fairly.

Bob Foster, Group Director of Claims at Brit Insurance, commented:

"As the first UK-based insurer and Lloyd's underwriter to open dedicated claims hubs for brokers and coverholders, Brit Insurance is at the forefront of the drive to improve global customer service. This initiative is a key part of our strategy to get closer to our customers.

Providing a local service backed by a global platform gives a model that will vastly improve all aspects of the claims process, leading to quicker decisions at all stages. A reduction in processing times, local payment of claims and ready access to accurate management information and data all bring a better experience for the broker and end customer."

Jeffrey T Bowman, CEO and President of Crawford & Company, said:

"Crawford & Company is pleased to have been selected by Brit Insurance to administer its North American and Regional International claims hubs outside the UK. The hubs will manage a range of claims and all data arising out of the underwriting programmes of Brit's London brokers and coverholders. Brit's innovative approach to claims administration through Crawford's management of a network of claim service providers will provide Brit and these coverholders with assurance that claims are being managed in accordance with Brit's standards. Crawford & Company is committed to nurturing and growing Brit's reputation as a premier insurer in the U.S., and is working closely with Brit to ensure that the North American Hub will reflect Brit's culture while enabling the use of Crawford's industry-leading expertise and experience".

Gerry Loughney, Chairman of Cunningham Lindsey United Kingdom, added:

"Cunningham Lindsey was very excited to be selected by Brit Insurance to work with them in creating and proving the hub concept. From the initial UK pilot through to the current implementation, innovative thinking and working in partnership have been the touchstones to success. This now proven concept has been shown to provide a best of class claims service to Brit Insurance, Cunningham Lindsey, brokers and policyholders".
